Transportation and Streets Director, City of Scottsdale

Mark Melnychenko has taken a 37-year career path from private consulting to the city of Phoenix and city of Scottsdale in transportation positions with broad responsibilities.   Presently, Mark oversees the City of Scottsdale Transportation and Streets Department and all its efforts associated with transportation planning, traffic engineering, public transit, maintenance, paving, traffic signals and streetlights.

As a transportation planner his work has helped bridge the gaps that exist between planning, engineering, and maintenance efforts. He has managed programs, projects and people while developing a strong rapport with City Council, various commissions, and the public. In work performed he has been successful in elevating the importance of livable streets and communities with the Complete Streets initiative in Phoenix and the development of the Transportation Action Plan in Scottsdale which acts as the city’s 10-year transportation blueprint.
